The little mimic

Posted by: celtgoddess23 on: July 11, 2011

People always remark how well Jeremy is talking.  I guess when your mom reportedly has verbal diarrhea, you can’t help but talk to keep up.  I guess I just don’t realize how much I talk to him.  He usually only says a small fraction of his vocabulary in front of others.  If they only knew how many words he really has!  When he’s with strangers, like my clinic members, he tends to trot out the popular, easy familiar words.  Car, cat, miaow, flowers, and repeat them.  Of course, he still babbles too.

He’s picking up new words very fast now.  Anything you say can and will be repeated, if he so chooses.  At last count, back on May 27th, he had 106 words, most of which were being used consistently. It was around that time I gave up counting.  The excel list I made had 112 words.

Today, Grammy & Grampy took him to the local mall.  Little Mr. was about to get into mischief, so Grammy called “Ken, help!”  Jeremy decided it must be urgent, so he also called “Ken, help!”  Grammy said they were lucky security didn’t get involved, as after that, the rascal would say “help!” every so often.

Help is not a new word for him.  It’s proving to be a very powerful concept.  Sometimes I can get him to do something he doesn’t want to, like holding my hand when we’re walking somewhere, when I say something silly like “Mommy doesn’t want to get lost, can you help me?  Hold my hand.”

What’s new with Jeremy?

Posted by: celtgoddess23 on: July 9, 2011

Jeremy’s walking very well now, and is quite quick.   He loves going out running in his stroller with us with my clinic, (i’m teaching 5K now), and he often asks “run?”     He has a strange fascination with trying to go down driveways onto the road.  It’s a bit nerve wracking.  He even tries to run sometimes.

He is obsessed with bikes and “chines” aka machines.  Thank you Mighty Machines the tv show!  That’s not sarcasm either.  Mommy likes the show too.

Jeremy loves to go outside.  He loves meeting new people too!  The boys down the street were playing with him yesterday.  The 10 year old even held him on the bike and they rode up the sidewalk.  Jeremy loved that, but then tried to climb on some kid’s bike at the park.

Jeremy likes to share, and frequently tries to feed the cats or Holly, and sometimes everyone else.  He’s very active and I am exhausted chasing after him, but hopefully that will help me shed the rest of the baby weight.

Are you sure he’s ours?

He was sleeping, and my arm was going numb, so I moved us to a more comfortable position & spot. He stayed asleep while I rearranged us. Then the Caillou theme song came on & he woke up, rubbing his eyes furiously the whole time.

Why is my son so nap resistant? I love a good nap, so does Daddy. Maybe they switched him at the hospital! ;0P

P.S. Damn you Caillou!

A little gentleman

Posted by: celtgoddess23 on: June 30, 2011

Jeremy and I were playing in the spare bedroom today.  He was up on the bed, and asked to get down.  I helped him down, and he said “Tank You”  ❤  Some days, he’s a little brutish caveman, and then other days, he’s the perfect little gentleman.

It’s going swimmingly!

Posted by: celtgoddess23 on: June 23, 2011

Jeremy’s first session of swimming lessons ended today.  We did a two week “crash course”, so to speak.  9 classes, M-F for week one, M-R for week two.  It was one of the only classes that had space left.  He really enjoyed himself, I think.  His favourite parts were the non-swimming parts.  LOL  Sometimes they got to play with toys, and other times the rode in/on floating things.  For the last section of class today, they got to play in the splash area.  At first, he was nervous.  When it was time to get out, he was ready to play.

In class, Jeremy learned Mommy relearned how help Jeremy slip into the pool, how to help him jump into the pool, how to blow bubbles, how to encourage Jeremy how to kick his legs and splash both from the side of the pool and in the water.  Mommy learned how to help him float on his tummy, on his back, how to help him get his face close to the water, and he got to wear a life jacket in the water.

Jeremy even got his first report card!

Reassurance after a rude awakening

Another FB status…
Jeremy woke up because of the storm. A cuddle with Mommy, a bit of Dora, and Daddy beside him, and he’s out like a light.

Giggles

Posted by: celtgoddess23 on: June 22, 2011

My Facebook post at 9:15
“is listening to Jeremy giggle up a storm while playing with Daddy. I wonder what they’re up to?”

It turns out that Jeremy was watching Darcy doing something silly.  Maybe Darcy was running around like he was possessed, as he sometimes does…

Talking to Daddy

Posted by: celtgoddess23 on: June 20, 2011

Shane was in the office today, and for some reason, I called him.  I make a lot of my calls on speaker phone now, because it’s easier to hear the person on the other end if Jeremy is chattering or screaming in the distance.  So Jeremy could hear Daddy.  When the conversation was over, I said “I love you” to Shane, and Jeremy tried to say it too.  ❤

Saag!

Posted by: celtgoddess23 on: May 24, 2011

I had saag with beef & rice for dinner yesterday.  Today, while eating my leftovers, I offered baby some.  He ate saag & rice, and asked for more.  Success!
